  • Stepping Up

I started in October 2025 and each month therafter I stepped up the dosage:

    2.5mg – October

    5.0mg – November

    7.5mg – December

    10.00mg January

I stopped at 10mg on th adice of my Doctor and because I was suffering quite badly with Nausea and reflux.

I tried different injection sites, different times of day but about 24 hours after the jab I’d be feeling nauseous and by 48 hours I would not want to look at or smell food at all. It wasnt a pleasant way to lose wieght, even if it was effective.

The best I foudn was to inject in the upper thigh, alternating wekley from left to right and moving the site to be higher or lower when I swapped back. It seems that the body got used to having the medication in one palce and the symptoms were weakened by doing so. I thought the effectiveness was as well but it proved not to be the case.

Mostly during these few early days of each week I would live on Aldi protein pouches or high protein yoghurts. My wife was not impressed at all and was having the exact opposite problem, she was starving all the time. We tried to get her on the emdication as well but her earlier helath issues had excluded her from any of them. This has remained a source of friction between us throughout. Anytime I mention anything about weightloss, new clothes, the medication, doctors reveiws anything related at all, a barbed comment or two is aimed my way.

It stings, I am the happiest, lightest and fittest i’ve been in twenty years. I want to celebrate the change and I cannot, everything has to be done on the quiet, subdued, almost in secret or it turns nasty.

I lost roughly 0.5Kg per week through the next few months.

  • Getting Started

So my attempt to diarise daily my journey failed at day 2 when I completely forgot to come here and update. In my defence, my wife was very poorly in hospital and that too priority

I procrastinated about starting because of events outside of my control but eventually took the bull by the horns. I think I had heard so much bad stuff about the treatment that I expected to be incapacitated and unable to do anything because of chronic nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. It was my diabetic nurse who convinced me it would be OK and I just needed to “get started” so I did.

In my first month, I took the medicine on a Monday evenings just before bed, around 10.30 in the evening. I did suffer quite badly from nausea and acid reflux trough the first month.I found that if I used the thigh as an injection site I got fewer symptoms and they lasted for less time (normal about three days), but it was a tough month.

It was made easier by dealing with other things like hospital visits, lots of bad news and lots and lots of driving/travelling simply because I couldn’t sit at home feeling poorly. I think it also helped because the reduced appetite meant I wasn’t always looking for food or worrying about meals as I would have done in the past.

I lost about 1Kg on my first month on 2.5mg

  • Hello world!

In these posts, pages and messages, I hope to document my journey using Mounjaro to control and manage my weight and other health issues.

I plan on writing it as a daily diary, but past history suggests I am not good at remembering to do it every day, I’ll be keeping notes and updating the site as and when I can. I’ll try to do it daily but we’ll see.

    Caveats

I am starting this journey at a time in my life that maybe isn’t ideal, but I’ve delayed and delayed starting and decided I just need to bite the bullet.

There is a lot going on in my life that would not be classed as “normal” and over the next few weeks I’ll also be caring for someone close to me who has had major surgery.

I am prescribed Mounjaro by my GP, I am not paying for it. This is to deal with health issues caused by having a BMI > 40 if my weight plateaus but everything else is improved and within metrics they consider normal, the help will stop at that point.
