  • Getting Started

So my attempt to diarise daily my journey failed at day 2 when I completely forgot to come here and update. In my defence, my wife was very poorly in hospital and that too priority

I procrastinated about starting because of events outside of my control but eventually took the bull by the horns. I think I had heard so much bad stuff about the treatment that I expected to be incapacitated and unable to do anything because of chronic nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. It was my diabetic nurse who convinced me it would be OK and I just needed to “get started” so I did.

In my first month, I took the medicine on a Monday evenings just before bed, around 10.30 in the evening. I did suffer quite badly from nausea and acid reflux trough the first month.I found that if I used the thigh as an injection site I got fewer symptoms and they lasted for less time (normal about three days), but it was a tough month.

It was made easier by dealing with other things like hospital visits, lots of bad news and lots and lots of driving/travelling simply because I couldn’t sit at home feeling poorly. I think it also helped because the reduced appetite meant I wasn’t always looking for food or worrying about meals as I would have done in the past.

I lost about 1Kg on my first month on 2.5mg

  • Hello world!

In these posts, pages and messages, I hope to document my journey using Mounjaro to control and manage my weight and other health issues.

I plan on writing it as a daily diary, but past history suggests I am not good at remembering to do it every day, I’ll be keeping notes and updating the site as and when I can. I’ll try to do it daily but we’ll see.

    Caveats

I am starting this journey at a time in my life that maybe isn’t ideal, but I’ve delayed and delayed starting and decided I just need to bite the bullet.

There is a lot going on in my life that would not be classed as “normal” and over the next few weeks I’ll also be caring for someone close to me who has had major surgery.

I am prescribed Mounjaro by my GP, I am not paying for it. This is to deal with health issues caused by having a BMI > 40 if my weight plateaus but everything else is improved and within metrics they consider normal, the help will stop at that point.
